The magnetic sensor is used for the automated detection of single or multiple target knockdowns. It is typically designed for fire sports competitions, where cones or targets are knocked down using a water stream.

The sensors are daisy-chained in groups of 4 (or more), ensuring that the signal to the timing system is generated only after all targets have been knocked down.

Principle of Operation

The sensor consists of two parts: the base is permanently attached to the ground, and the upper movable part is attached to a cone or another element intended to be knocked down, such as water fill targets or aiming targets. When the upper part is knocked off by water pressure, the top magnet disconnects from the base. Once all sensors are disconnected, a signal is generated for the chronometer, stopping the timer.
