TS-Maraton RfID Chip System

is designed for timing long-distance races. It is very simple to use, and the idea of using an integrated RfID (chip) reader allows for further automation of time measurement while keeping a very attractive price.

Competitor recognition takes place remotely, via radio. Depending on how the antennas are positioned, a range of up to a dozen or so meters can be achieved. To increase measurement precision, we recommend positioning the antennas at a slight angle relative to the finish line.

The system works great for semi-amateur races with several hundred participants, such as:

  • long-distance runs
  • marathons
  • half marathons
  • orienteering runs
The system consists of:
  1. Antenna with RfID reader, range 15m - 3 pcs or more
  2. Desktop USB reader for registering competitors
  3. Sectro TS-Maraton RfID Software
    • Integrated with the TS-Trening database (access to extensive registration, analysis, and reporting features)
    • The start list can be created in TS-Trening or in Excel
    • Start by clock (common start or with an interval)
    • The operator at the finish line receives voice notifications about correct competitor recognition (via speakers or headphones) - no need to watch the program window
    • Option to enter data manually in case the code is damaged
  4. 500 pcs of RfID UHF Tags - self-adhesive labels

Main System Features

TS-Trening (version 2.38)

  • Creating new competitions
  • Independent selection of columns to be displayed on the start list and results
  • Custom logo and text headers in reports
  • Custom logo and additional content in report footers
  • Creating and importing the start list from a CSV file (Excel, LibreOffice)
  • Grouping (classes) of competitors by gender, birth year, club, specified category, etc.
  • Saving lists and measurements in the database
  • Direct printing to a printer
  • Saving reports to PDF
  • Saving reports to CSV
  • Saving reports in HTML

TS-Maraton Module (version 1.59)

  • Loads .xml and .sec lists from TS-Trening
  • Multiple ways to trigger the start:
    • Individual start (based on RfID tag scan)
    • Start at a set time (e.g. 9:00)
    • Start at the current time (triggered by the operator)
    • In all variants, competitors can be divided:
      • by number range (e.g. 1-20 start first, then 21-30)
      • by groups/classes
      • all at once
  • The finish line is scanned automatically by 4 readers simultaneously
  • In case of a lost/damaged tag, finishing can be recorded by competitor number
  • Results are visible immediately on the computer screen
  • Ability to count laps and intermediate times (the last scan becomes the finish)
  • Support for LT LED boards – displaying results and competitor names – visible from 100m
  • Fully configurable content placement on the board, font size, animation type, and its speed
  • Configuration of the reader's transmission power and other parameters via an external program (factory-set)
  • Saving results as .xml allows them to be downloaded online for use in other systems
  • Ability to print results on prepared certificates
  • Dynamic software development in cooperation with clients

Sectro-TS Maraton Program (version 1.78) – Feature Overview

1. Main panel and interface

  • Dynamic antenna status icons on the top bar (indicating antenna on/off status and current readings).
  • Buttons for loading the competitor list and a button for saving results.

2. Competitor start options

  • Start modes:
    • at a predetermined time,
    • at the current time (start by button),
    • individual start by scan.
  • Filtering starters: by a selected competitor group or a specified range of bib numbers.
  • Finish line registration: automatic scanning of the competitor's tag or manual entry of the bib number if it is lost.

3. Results preview

  • A second tab with a larger window for real-time viewing of results and measurements.

4. Communication and ports

  • Configuration of 4 COM ports dedicated to 4 RFID antennas.

5. Basic settings

  • Timer type (elapsed time growing on the board): from the first start or from the competitor who has been on the course the longest.
  • Counting successive finish line crossings as intermediate times (lap counting).
  • Setting the lap limit to be completed by a competitor.
  • Enabling/disabling voice announcements for events (makes it easier to react without watching the screen).

6. LED board settings

  • Board configuration: size, on-screen layout, brightness.
  • Testing communication and displaying messages from the organizer (static and dynamic).

7. RFID readers

  • Preview of communication with the readers (recent reads and writes).
  • Tag debounce time: sets the required time between successive scans of the same tag (prevents the finish from being registered multiple times in a short interval, e.g. when a competitor stops, while still allowing the next lap to be registered after a longer time).
  • Reader technical parameters:
    • transmission power,
    • enabling/disabling the buzzer sound,
    • setting the Q value (crucial for read efficiency with small and large groups).
  • "Set parameters" and "Read parameters" buttons for communicating with the readers.
