Starting Christmas Tree
The Starting Christmas Tree, also known as the signal tree, is a start indicator used in 1/4 or 1/8 mile drag races. The start occurs on the green signal, and by using the GUARD photocell, we can detect the reaction time or a false start. The tree receives commands from the timing computer via an RS485 link - typically 30m, max 1200m. It handles the Pre-STAGE and STAGE setup at the start (white lights), displays the start sequence, and generates the START impulse for the TimeMaster 16 stopwatch.
